In The Name of Peace: John Hume in America

Followed by a Q&A with The Director / Producer,  Maurice Fitzpatrick.

This feature documentary explores the Nobel Prize winner, John Hume’s long campaign to secure peace in Northern Ireland. Maurice Fitzpatrick reveals how Hume, rising from the riot-torn streets of Northern Ireland and inspired by Martin Luther King, enlisted an army of heavy-weight international heads of state to help bring about Peace in Northern Ireland.  Narrated by Liam Neeson, this documentary includes interviews with Presidents Clinton and President Carter, US senators and congressmen, as well as Irish leaders, and British Prime Ministers Tony Blair and John Major.

Director and Producer Maurice Fitzpatrick said “The film serves as an a reminder of the redemptive powers of politics, and personal courage, to overcome hatred and division. It is a timely endorsement, given the current global political instability, of charismatic leadership and steady international co-operation, and what both can achieve.”
