MUSIC | Brendan Power and Lucy Randall

Brendan Power in concert with Lucy Randall

The UK-based Irish-New Zealander, Brendan, is acknowledged as one of the most creative, skilled and versatile harmonica players around today. He was voted International Harmonica Player of the Year in 2011/12. Since moving to Britain in 1992, his eclectic skills and sympathetic ear have made him the ‘in-demand player’, live and on record, with Kate Bush, Sting, Van Morrison, Paul Young, Shirley Bassey and John Williams. He has often  appeared on The Jools Holland Show and he is a former winner of  ‘Best Duo’ (alongside guitarist Tim Edey) in The BBC Folk Awards.

In addition to his pop, jazz and blues skills, Brendan is also an expert player of Irish Traditional music (winning the 1993 ALl Ireland Title). He performed for several years with Riverdance and has recorded with Donal Lunny, Altan, Paul Brady and Mary Black.

Brendan will be joined on the night with bodhrán player Lucy Randall.

“In Power are combined all the elements which make for a true master player: remarkable technical skill, deep knowledge of the instrument, and a truly creative approach to the music.” – THE IRISH TIMES, Dublin.
