Theatre: Bloomsday 2020 – Frank Grimes – ‘The He and The She of It’

To celebrate Bloomsday... throughout the week we will bring you segments of ‘the he and the she of it…’ A Portrait of James Joyce, performed by award winning Irish Actor, Frank Grimes.

One of Ireland’s leading actors Frank Grimes performs his riveting portrait of one of the world’s greatest literary figures, James Joyce. With extracts from Finnegans Wake, The Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Dubliners and Ulysses, this performance is a superb tribute to the James Joyce and his work.

Frank Grimes was born in Dublin and trained at the Abbey Theatre. He scored an early success on Broadway as Brendan Behan in the Tony Award winning Borstal Boy. Frank received a Tony nomination for Best Actor and was voted, “Most Promising Actor” by the New York critics in Variety. Frank has worked extensively in the London theatre, at the Royal Court, the Royal Shakespeare Company and The National Theatre.

His many television and film credits include, A Bridge Too Far,  My Son, My Son,  The Outsider, Blind Justice, When The Sky Falls, Kavanagh QC. He played Barry in Coronation Street and he appeared in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Ben Elton’s musical, The Beautiful Game.
