Volunteer spotlight: Kathleen Donovan

Kathleen Donovan is pictured here with Rosalind Scanlon the centre’s Cultural Director and Peter Power Hynes, Chairman of The Board of The Irish Cultural Centre.

As part of our 25th Anniversary Year the Irish Cultural Centre will be shining a spotlight on our volunteers, starting today with none-other than the amazing Kathleen Donovan. Kathleen, originally from County Kilkenny, joined the ICC as a volunteer 20 years ago and ever since then she has given the centre all those years of her loyal, committed and steadfast service.

Many of you will know Kathleen, (who was often referred to as ‘The Duchess’), because for years she worked as the centre’s receptionist and she was also the welcoming smiling face at so many of our concerts and events, when she worked as our box office assistant.

You can still see Kathleen working on ICC events, selling Cd’s and books for our visiting artists and also doing the box office for our popular monthly Irish Tea Dances.

Kathleen is also a brilliant arran knitter and she leads the ICC’s weekly Knitting Circle which takes place every Tuesday afternoon, so you can look forward to meeting Kathleen when the ICC opens again, in the not too distant future.
