Coronamona is the world’s first drama series produced entirely on Zoom. The series is written by ICC resident playwright, Conor Montague, directed by John O’Dowd, and produced in collaboration with Galway creatives on lock down in Clapham Common, Buckinghamshire, Spiddal, Salthill, Tourmakeady, and Tenerife.
Ostensibly, Coronamona is a drama which deals with forced separation during the current pandemic, but essentially, is a drama about separation and isolation in a wider sense, challenges integral to the Irish experience. Coronamona is also a celebration of story. The power of story not just to entertain, but to connect and heal. The character of Martín communicates through story, seemingly fragmented memories which pack a metaphorical punch whenever he speaks to his son, Seamus, a nurse based in London, or his care worker, Bridie, a local woman with whom both he and Seamus share a special bond.
Series 1 is set in London and Connemara from March 2020 to November 2020. Watch the full series here:
