St Patrick’s Day: Anthony McGrath

As  part of our ‘Special Saint Patrick’s Week Short Film Series’, made by the ICC’s wonderful in-house artists and tutors, today we bring you a short film recording made by Anthony McGrath.

Anthony is the ICC’s Singing Tutor for the ‘Irish Singing and Reminiscences Group’. When the doors of the venue were open, the group met every Tuesday afternoon, and under the fabulous guidance and tutoring of Anthony McGrath, you could always hear the group’s joyous and magnificent singing tones of all of the great old Irish songs  wafting throughout the building.

In this lovely recording Anthony wishes all the viewers of ICC Digital a very Happy Saint Patrick’s Day and says he looks forward to the day when everyone will be back, LIVE in the ICC, singing and sharing together again.

In this film Anthony sings a beautiful song, remembering spending Saint Patrick’s Days gone by with his Grandmother in Donegal. He also sings a fun song about Saint Patrick’s Day, written by Ireland’s great balladeer Christy Moore. Anthony is then joined by the great Irish trad musician Eamon Burke and together they play a fab and fun tune to lift your hearts and get your toes tapping for Saint Patrick’s 2021!   Enjoy!

Along with being a tutor at the ICC, Anthony is also a great singer and a very much admired Irish traditional guitarist and also teacher of guitar. If you are interested in joining the ICC’s weekly  ‘Irish Singing and Reminiscences Group, here is the link.
