Irish Musical Instruments

Saturday, 29 April 2017 - 10:00am

Irish Traditional Music for Beginners, Improvers and Advanced Musicians.

Traditional Irish Music runs group tuition sessions every week on Saturdays 10am-2pm.

If you are a complete beginner a ‘D’ whistle is an excellent and inexpensive starting point.

All age groups are welcome and the relaxed and easy atmosphere ensures that everyone, from beginners to more advanced musicians, makes progress on their chosen instrument. For those wishing to advance their understanding of styling and ornamentation. Ornamentation and variations, both rhythmical and harmonic are demonstrated and further development encouraged. All resource material is supplied.

Both adults and children are encouraged to take the exams in Irish Traditional Music offered by the London College of Music (West London University). Taking part in exams is optional but concentrates the mind and gives extra confidence.

Public performance is encouraged and there are a number of concerts a year in which students perform. Last year ICC students played on the Main Stage at Trafalgar Square as part of the St Patrick’s Day events.

Specialist workshops are held each year with expert visiting musicians organised for each instrument.
