Tune in to Near FM Dublin 90.3 on Wednesday March 17th at 11.30pm for  another great episode of ‘Bright Side Of The Road’, recorded at the Irish Cultural Centre in Hammersmith, London.

This week’s show focuses on Irish female singer songwriters and showcases two fast rising stars, who recently appeared in the film series ‘The ICC Seisiúns’ – Hannah Jackson and Sinéad Egan.

Sinéad Egan

London born Sinéad Egan was brought up steeped in Irish traditional music and was strongly influenced and guided by her stepfather, the late great Irish fiddle master Brendan Mulkere.

Always honouring and paying homage to her Irish traditional roots, at an early age Sinéad began to write and sing her own Folk and Country songs, often seamlessly mixing them with touches of Jazz and Blues. Her beautiful, pure and lyrical voice is spellbinding and her songs are full of transcendent melodies, which inspire and touch the soul. In this show you will hear Sinéad sing some of her own songs as well as a John Prine song, in remembrance of the late great Country music star.

Hannah Jackson

Born in Dublin and brought up in Scotland, Hannah Jackson’s unique and original song writing is full of soaring melodies and intricate acoustics and her breath-taking performances always soothe, touch and inspire. With a beautiful singing style, reminiscent of Laura Marling, Hannah is fast making headway on London’s folk music circuit. In this show Hannah will play some of her new songs, as well as her recent single, ‘Grace’.

Henry Scott Irvine presents the weekly Irish music and arts show, with special guests, the ICC’s Cultural Director, Rosalind Scanlon and Film-maker Sé Merry Doyle, who directed the series of 14 lockdown concerts, “The ICC Seisiúns”.

This week’s show also includes classic tracks from Eleanor McEvoy, Sinead O’Connor, Maria Doyle Kennedy and Imelda May
