Céilí with the Gleann Catha Céilí Band
A night of Céilí music and dance!
The Gleann Catha Céilí Band’ (pronounced ‘Glinn Caha’) is an 8 piece traditional Irish band featuring 2 fiddles, 1 accordion, 1 melodeon, 1 banjo, 1 uilleann pipes, 1 flute and 1 piano. While four of its members have been playing for set dancing and céilís in London for years – in the McNamara Céilí Band and more – the wider 8-piece (including younger family members,) made its very successful debut at the Highgate Céilí at St Joseph’s Social Club earlier this year. Featuring ‘London Lasses’ and ‘Artisan Row’ members: Karen Ryan (fiddle/ banjo) and Pete Quinn (piano) join forces with Karen’s cousin, Gary Connolly (accordion) and other family members in this band, which is named after their family home village, along the Coast Road in Connemara, County Galway. A mighty night of Irish music and dancing is promised.
