ICC Concert Session with Gary Connolly, Teresa Connolly, and Tad Sargent

For the next of our concert session series, we look forward to welcoming back Tad Sargent who will be accompanying Gary Connolly on button accordion and Teresa Connolly on fiddle

Tad Sargent is our concert session series host and guitarist.  He has been delighted to see the interest in this new series, and looks forward to bringing this season to a close with these two mighty guests on the 19th April.

Gary Connolly

London Irish Traditional Irish Musician Gary Connolly photographed portrait playing the button accordionBorn into a musical family (his father Pat Connolly is the acclaimed multi All Ireland winning Sean-nós singer from Gleann Catha), Gary began playing the accordion at the age of twelve. He has gone on to be a prominent figure on the London Irish music scene, hosting the weekly session at The Auld Triangle in North London for almost 20 years, and playing in the Gasra na nGael Céilí band for 25 years. He has performed solo concerts at the Return to Camden Town festival and has appeared on Irish TV’s Ardàn and Ceolaireacht (TG4). Gary can often be heard playing at sessions in London with his wife Teresa and their children Ben and Ella.

 

Teresa Connolly (Née Heanue)

London Irish fiddle player Teresa Connolly portrait photoTeresa Connolly (nee Heanue) is a London born fiddler of Galway parents. She toured extensively with Lord of the Dance (briefly Riverdance) and recorded with Loreena McKennitt, Siné, Luke Daniels and The London Lasses. Teresa featured on RTE’s television programme ‘The Pure Drop’ and in recent years enjoys playing sessions, concerts and ceilis in and around London, especially with her husband Gary and their children Ben and Ella Connolly.

 

Tad Sargent

London Irish guitarist and trad musician Tad Sargent smiling with a bouzouki in front of a brick wallOur former bodhran & guitar tutor, Tad has returned to the Irish Cultural Centre by way of producing the concert sessions series.  He has recently released a new album with Matt Tighe (fiddle) and you can find the album – Home Grown on Band Camp and most streaming platforms.  His previous bands and collaborations include recording/gigging with Crossharbour, The Long Notes, Béal Bán, Brian McNeill, Cara, Loic Blejean, Brian Kelly, Ranagri & Tony Christie.
