Irish Creative Collective London presents: Beyond The Wesht End
90 mins featuring two 40-60 min Musicals with a short interval.
Join us for the opening night of a three-part festival celebrating the vibrant voices of Irish musical theatre. Each evening showcases two brand new musicals by emerging Irish composers and writers.
Tonight’s double bill features two original works, staged back-to-back — a unique chance to experience fresh stories, unforgettable songs, and the future of musical theatre talent!
ACT 1: RISING
A new Irish musical by Tom James McGrath and Amy Clare Tasker
Dublin, 1916: Patrick Pearse is about to lead an armed rebellion against the British Empire, but first he must overcome his deep self-hatred. What will it take to win the freedom he so dearly desires?
With musical influences from Irish folk, contemporary classical and Broadway, RISING provides an intimate portrait of the people behind the event that was the catalyst for Irish independence.
ACT 2: CAN’T TALK RIGHT NOW
A new Irish Musical by Molly O’Gorman.
Can’t Talk Right Now is a sharp, heartfelt one-woman musical about Aggy, 29, waiting for biopsy results and questioning everything. Stuck writing ad copy for verruca cream instead of her dream of children’s books— she faces her own mortality and asks what she truly wants, whether she has six weeks or sixty years left.
Darkly funny, painfully relatable, and full of heart, Can’t Talk Right Now is an honest look at regret, hope, and finding your voice before it’s too late.
Doors: 7pm; Starts: 7.30pm
