Celebrate Brigid on Ireland’s Spring Festival

On 1st Feb we continue Máire É / Mary Ellen’s Celtic Wheel Tales with another immersive and inclusive storytelling event. On this national Irish (bank) holiday we invite you to come le chéile—together to enjoy myth and meditation, poetry and prose.

Bríg is known by many names including Bríde, Brigid and Bridget and has been celebrated in Ireland for millennia as a protective force. She empowers us to bring forth our creator energy, gifting us hope and healing whilst rekindling the Irish land-lore and language of our lineage.

Rejoice with Bríg at the start of Spring and reclaim your imagination, reignite your imbas—inspiration and reawaken the sacred spark within.

Imbolc: The Season of Rebirth

In the ancient Irish myths this festival was called Imbolc, coming from i mbolg—in the belly. It invokes fertility and rebirth and Bríg embodies this tús maith—good start. As nature reawakens all around us, with snowdrops shooting up and lambs being born, we too can regain energy and clarity when we choose to get in sync with the season.

Casann an roth—the wheel turns once again and so fires will blaze in Goddess Bríg’s honour all over Ireland. These festivals, fabulous light displays and filíocht—poetry events reconnect us to the ancestors whist calling forth our fierce feminine energy, which is so needed in the world today.

From Myth to Modern Day: The Evolution of Brigid’s Day

Bígí linn—join us as we explore how the start of the Celtic light half of the year evolved into Lá Fhéile Bríde, as ancient Irish rituals became fite fuaite—intertwined with church customs like St Brigid’s Cross.

Anois-now, with these positive Spring energies we can embrace the Gaeilge seanfhocal:

Tús maith leath na hoibre—A good start is half the work!
