New Album Launch
Carmina has been acclaimed as one of the ‘freshest and most original Irish Celtic Bands.’ Drawing from traditional and contemporary Irish folk-jazz, and world music influences, they create a sophisticated original sound which simply defies logic. Featuring the haunting voice of Pippa Marland (who also plays saxaphone, Irish flute and whistle) and the magical arrangements of Carmina’s co-founder, Rob King (also plays guitar, mandola, bodhrán).
In the year 2000, Carmina attracted the admiration of Ireland’s leading music guru, Donal Lunny, who produced and played on their first award winning album ‘Weather in the Heart’. As a result, Carmina earned a major publishing deal with Peter Gabriel’s Real World Record Company and Lunny went on to produce and play on their second album ‘My Crescent Moon’.
Now several acclaimed albums later, having played many jazz and folk festivals around the globe, Carmina returns to play at The Irish Cultural Centre, to launch their long awaited new album ‘Landmark’. The album features some of the best UK jazz and folk musicians, and 2 choirs. It is released on I&E Records in association with Real World Music.
This special live album launch will feature the core members of Carmina, Pippa Marland and Rob King, along with the renowned jazz musician Geoff Castle (piano, synth, vocals), the exhilarating Paul Bradley (guitar, vocals), and the virtuoso fiddle player Gina Griffin. Plus guests…
