The melting pot of London Town is synonymous with bringing artists together. Such is the case with these three inspiring young musicians, each making significant inroads and drawing attention in their own individual careers.
Eimear McGeown has garnered a reputation as being one of the worlds most versatile performers on classical and Irish flute. She has built up a remarkable cv having performed as a soloist all over the world.
James Carty has a distinctive style which he has developed having grown up listening to the Sligo masters. Their repertoire includes material from a wide variety of sources including from shared influences such as the great Sligo flute player Seamus Tansey.
Complementing the flute and fiddle music will be Sinead Egan’s songs and subtle accompaniment on guitar and keyboard. Retaining a family tradition of Irish traditional music, Folk and Country and writing songs within that genre, singer-songwriter, Sinéad also incorporates hints of Soul, Jazz and the Blues seamlessly to arrive at a unique blend.
The Trad Gathering, led by the internationally renowned Karen Ryan (fiddle) and Pete Quinn (piano) of the London Lasses and Artisan Row, brings together a selection of the most talented and accomplished young traditional Irish musicians from across London, St Alban’s, Luton, Cambridge and further afield.
Originally formed in 2008 The Trad Gathering have performed at many notable occasions including at the ‘Return to Camden Town ‘festival, The ‘Lord Mayor of London’s St Patrick’s Day Festival’ at Trafalgar Square and at Kings Place as support for Altan. They have also performed arrangements from the repertoire of Bryan Rooney and the McCarthy family.
