Founded in the 1970s, the internationally acclaimed Sands Family Bandfrom ‘An Dun’ (County Down,) played a vital part in the creation of the phenomenal Irish folk music scene. Their clever mix of traditional Irish music and song, coupled with their own thought- provoking compositions propelled them to stardom, winning awards worldwide, even spawning several tribute bands in Germany and Denmark, (long before tribute bands were ever invented!). Renowned as performers, writer and presenters The Sands Family have remained at the very heart of Ulster folk music for generations and they show no evidence of running out of inspiration, enthusiasm, energy or audience applause!

Joining them will be Na Leanai’ which comprises of Anne’s daughters Sorcha and Eimear, Ben Sands daughter Ryanne, and their cousin Fra Sands!

Na Leanai grew up steeped in Irish music. They learned their craft as children listening and watching as audiences throughout Europe responded to the songs the wit and the infectious performance art of The Sands Family. With fiddles, flutes, guitars and percussion Na Leanai play haunting airs that speak to the soul, lively jigs to set the feet tapping and amazingly beautiful close vocal harmonies that will give you goose bumps!!

They SANDS FAMILY have enthralled top music venues and festivals in Ireland, Britain, Germany and Denmark for four decades!!

Music Maestro STEVE COONEY (who produced Na leanai’s recent album) says -“they are so mighty talented, they has an amazing future… they are one of the freshest folk-fusion band on the Irish music scene right now!”

WHAT THE PRESS ARE SAYING!!

‘Na Leanaí explore the folk songs of their childhood, but add twists and turns that brings them right up-to-date! .. You can physically sense the fun and joy this bunch is having. There’s plenty of fiddle, flute, bodhrán and guitar, but all is discretely employed to focus on the songs’ the lyrics and the singing. Each band member takes the lead and each brings angelic harmonies!! “ FolkWorld.eu

’’exuding a sense of fun-in-performance that’s truly infectious’. David Kidman The Living Tradition Magazine

“…the first few seconds of their set had me spellbound. The harmonies, with that Irish lilt to it, stilled the room. Utterly beautiful.” – Steve Stockman – SoFar Sounds

“The strength of the band really lies in their vocal harmonies. Isn’t there something special about family harmonies? It’s hard not to be cheered up by a Na Leanai gig.” Folk & Tumble Magazine
