Musical Theatre on a Sunday

Join us the Foyer with some of Musical Theatre's most up-and-coming writers as they discuss their work and works that have inspired them.

About our featured team
Tom James McGrath and Amy Clare Tasker are a musical writing team based in London. Tom is from Tipperary and Amy grew up in San Francisco.  The pair met in 2022 at the Book, Music & Lyrics workshop, where they found they shared a sense of humour, intensity and creative nerdiness; they’ve been writing together ever since!
Their first musical, “The Queen Is Mad”, made a splash at Edinburgh Fringe 2025. It won a Special Commendation award from Musical Theatre Review and was named as one of Elaine Paige’s Fringe Picks on BBC Radio 2. The show’s lead single “Locked Away” was a finalist for the Stiles + Drewe Best New Song Prize in 2024.
Their second musical, “RISING”, shines an intimate spotlight on Patrick Pearse and the other leaders of the 1916 Irish rebellion. The show recently had a sold-out concert reading in the Irish Cultural Centre Hammersmith, co-produced with the Irish Creative Collective and supported by Cordell Campbell (“Kenrex”, “End of the Rainbow”).
Tom and Amy have been working with Joe O’Neill and the Irish Creative Collective since 2023. Their work has been showcased multiple times at the Collective’s SIAMSA variety night in Elephant and Castle, and in 2025’s “Beyond the Wesht End” musical event in ICC Hammersmith.
