Super Great Kids’ Stories 5th Birthday!
Award-winning multicultural storytelling podcast – Super Great Kids’ Stories, returns to the ICC with a show to celebrate its fifth birthday. You’ve heard them online, now come and meet our gifted storytellers: Kate Corkery, Tuup, and podcast host, Kim Normanton. Join us for a Saturday afternoon of birthday fun, with some of your favourite tales. Recommended for ages 5 to 105.
Meet our Storytellers
Kate Corkery from Cork, a favourite with the ICC. Kate has a way of engaging an audience and getting everyone singing and joining in with her delightful tales. She’s shared her stories in schools, festivals and theatres around the world. She particularly enjoys telling tales from Ireland and uses her versatile voice to conjure up characters like the giant, Finn McCool, and a wrinkly green fairy partial to a drop of whisky.
Tuup was born in London of Guyanese parents and is a celebrity with Super Great Kids’ Stories fans. He brings to life personalities ranging from Anansi the trickster spider to Water Mama, a terrifying mermaid. With a strong stage presence, Tuup brings all his skills as a professional musician and percussionist, weaving drumming and rhymes throughout his stories. He’ll have you laughing, singing, and possibly even dancing before his tale is out.
Kim Normanton is the host of the award-winning Super Great Kids Stories’ podcast. She particularly enjoys encouraging audience interaction using rhymes, songs and sound effects. Her stories reflect her interest in world cultures; her favourite characters are the Russian witch, Baba Yaga, who eats children for breakfast – crunchy munchy yum yum yum! — and a Zimbabwean singing crocodile who loves chocolate. “I feel very fortunate that through podcasting I’ve met a family of people who share my love of traditional tales. We look forward to celebrating our fifth birthday with you at the ICC.”
