Tune into Dublin’s Near FM 90.3, on Wednesday May 26th at 11.30pm to hear another episode of ‘Bright Side Of The Road’ recorded at The Irish Cultural Centre in Hammersmith, London.

In this week’s show filmmaker Sé Merry Doyle is in conversation with the gifted young singer songwriter and actor, Luke Coughlan, a new prodigy on the folk music scene.

Luke, who recently appeared in the film series ‘The ICC Seisiúns’, is an Irish Londoner who grew up surrounded by Irish trad, folk and rock music. He started singing and performing at an early age and quickly carved out his own unique musical and singing style.

Luke has performed many times at the Irish Cultural Centre and he performed on the main stage at the Saint Patrick’s Festival in Trafalgar Square (2019), alongside many Irish music legends; Luke also performed in “Ceiliúradh”, a concert held in honour of Ireland’s President, Michael D Higgins, at The Royal Albert Hall (2014).

Alongside his music career, Luke is also a great actor. Just before lockdown he was cast in the lead role as Frankie Valli in the critically acclaimed show ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ and he will continue to perform this role after Covid. He is also currently busy filming several TV  and film projects.

In this show you can hear Luke singing songs written by Glen Hansard, Dick Gaughan and Paul Brady. He also sings his own self-penned song ‘Integrity’. The show will also feature tracks by Bob Dylan and Frankie Valli.

Henry Scott Irvine presents the weekly Irish music and arts show, with special guests, the ICC’s Cultural Director, Rosalind Scanlon and Film-maker Sé Merry Doyle, who directed the series of 14 lockdown concerts, “The ICC Seisiúns”.
