An Evening with Joseph O’Connor – Author of The Ghosts of Rome

The Irish Cultural Centre is thrilled to welcome award-winning Irish author Joseph O’Connor for an exclusive in-conversation event celebrating his latest novel, The Ghosts of Rome.

Joseph O’Connor, one of Ireland’s most acclaimed literary voices, will discuss this gripping sequel to his bestseller My Father’s House with renowned journalist Dorothy Allen. This promises to be an evening of captivating conversation about history, heroism, and the power of storytelling.

Set in Nazi-occupied Rome, The Ghosts of Rome follows Contessa Giovanna Landini, a member of the underground “Escape Line” resistance group, as she faces Gestapo chief Paul Hauptmann in a high-stakes game of intrigue and survival. Inspired by true events, this historical thriller is the second instalment in Joseph’s critically acclaimed Escape Line Trilogy.

About Joseph O’Connor

Joseph O’Connor’s extraordinary literary career spans over 20 books, published in 40 languages. His works include the internationally celebrated Star of the Sea, Ghost Light, Shadowplay, and My Father’s House.

A recipient of numerous awards, including the Irish PEN Award for Outstanding Achievement, Joseph is a master storyteller known for his historical fiction and richly drawn characters.

Dorothy Allen is an award-winning journalist and a former BBC reporter with expertise in radio and television documentaries. Currently the London correspondent for Tierwelt, she is a longtime advocate for Irish literature and a key member of the ICC’s Irish Literature Programming team.
