Few voices linger in the soul like Cara Dillon’s. A towering figure in Irish music, she has earned global acclaim and major awards—including four BBC Folk Awards and the Meteor Award for Best Irish Female. For nearly 30 years, her voice—deceptively delicate yet emotionally powerful—has bridged tradition and innovation.
Alongside husband and collaborator Sam Lakeman, Dillon has created a timeless, distinctive sound. Their intimate live shows feature now-classic renditions of “Black Is the Colour” and “The Parting Glass,” among many others.
From Óige and De Dannan to Disney soundtracks, chart-topping remixes, and Derry Girls, Dillon continues to defy genre boundaries. As Mojo once wrote, she possesses “quite possibly the world’s most beautiful female voice”—a legacy she continues to affirm—with a voice that lingers long after the last note fades.
