Diaspora: An Evening Of Live Poetry & Film Presented in Association with The Adrian Brinkerhoff Poetry Foundation.
Come and enjoy some live poetry performances by some sublime Irish poets and actors and watch a wonderful collection of “Poetry Films” made by the prestigious Adrian Brinkerhoff Poetry Foundation. This will be a rare opportunity to enjoy some live poetry recitations and catch these cinematic treats on the ICC’s cinema screen.
Poets and actors appearing live and reading poetry at this event include poets Gabriel Gbadamosi, Siobhan Campbell, Peter Doolan and actress Rhianne Barreto. The evening will be introduced by the director Matthew Thompson and producer Tommy Creagh.
The collection of Irish Poetry films were made by The Adrian Brinkerhoff Poetry Foundation in early 2024, in association with the Irish Cultural Centre.

Actress Bríd Brennan reading Seamus Heaney’s poem ‘Mossbawn Sunlight’ and Sinéad Morrisey’s ‘Genetics’.
Actress Rhianne Barreto, reading Niall McDevitt’s poem ‘The Tower Of Babylon’ and Wendy Cope’s poem ‘The Orange’.
Poet Gabriel Gbadamosi reading his own poem ‘Valediction’ and William Blakes ‘London’.
Poet Siobhan Campbell reading her own poem ‘When All This Is Over’ and Eamonn Walls ‘Last Cricket Of The Season’
Poet Peter Doolan reading Niall McDevitt’s poem ‘A Quartet For Lysagth’.
The Films were Directed by Matthew Thompson and Produced by Tommy Creagh and the ICC’s Cultural Director Rosalind Scanlon.

Matthew Thompson: Director
Matthew Thompson is an award winning Irish artist working in photography and film. His collaborative Poetry Speaks films were showcased at the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin from May to August 2021, and his portrait of Andrew Hozier-Byrne was a finalist for the Zurich Portrait Award in 2020.
In 2015, Matthew collaborated with Broadstone Films to represent Ireland in the Architectural Biennale in Shenzhen, China. He has worked with a diverse range of esteemed clients, including Pentagram, Philips, Saatchi & Saatchi Pro, Adrain Brinkerhoff Poetry Foundation, RADA, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, Red&Grey Design, Detail Design Studio, Bielke & Yang, Socio Design, Made Thought, Monocle, Wired (Japan), Condé Nast, Time-Warner, Cara, and EMI.
Matthew’s personal work is focused on exploring how conditioning influences perception, and he has exhibited his work in New York, New Orleans, Paris, London, Shenzhen, Helsinki, Belfast, and Dublin. He holds a Masters of Fine Art Photography from the University of Ulster in Belfast and a Bachelor of Design Degree from The National College of Art & Design in Dublin.
Tommy Creagh Producer
Tommy Creagh is an award winning British – Irish writer, director, & producer with a range of experience, generally finding himself somewhere in the intersection between film & literature. Graduating from Bristol UWE in 2017 with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Filmmaking, his films have won several awards and been shown at over 60 film festivals around the world. His most notable works are Father of the Man (Winner of Best Short Film at the Vienna Independent Film Festival), Land of Winter (Winner of Best Irish Short at the Dublin International Short Film & Music Festival & Best Young Talent at the New Renaissance Film Festival) & Acheron (Winner of Best Director at the Shadow Film Festival and Best Actor at the Dublin International Short Film & Music Festival), and most recently ARACHNE (Winner of Best Short Film at the Prague Independent Film Festival & Best Experimental Short at the New Renaissance Film Festival)
As well as his writing/directing projects Tommy is director of the Bloomsday Film Festival, and a curator at the James Joyce Centre, Dublin, as well as producer of poetry films for the Adrian Brinkerhoff Poetry Foundation, where he also just directed his first poetry film starring Freddie Fox. He currently has four feature scripts in development.
