Family Screening: FIDIL GHORM (BLUE FIDDLE)

Length 85mins: An Irish Language Film with Subtitles; Ireland 2024.

In “Fidil Ghorm,” 10-year-old Molly is on a heartfelt mission to bring her father out of a coma. believing that mastering the fiddle and winning the All Ireland Competition might wake him, she’s determined to follow in his musical footsteps.

When her father is moved to a rehab center, Molly meets Malachy, (played by Barry McGovern),  a grumpy yet intriguing elderly man with a mysterious past. Drawn to the beautiful fiddle music she hears him play, Molly learns that Malachy was once a champion fiddler known for having magic in his hands. Their unlikely friendship blossoms as she persuades him to teach her the instrument. Together, they embark on a journey filled with music, resilience, and the healing power of connection, searching for the magic only music can bring.
