Most Peculiar Dreams – Concert Version

Most Peculiar Dreams is an original musical created in Ireland presented in concert version at the Irish Cultural Centre, London. The piece combines an Irish American musical voice with themes of fame, longing, family loyalty, exploitation, sacrifice and hope.

Most Peculiar Dreams is an original musical set between the Donnelly family home and the dangerous glamour of New York’s Sycamore Club. When young Shawn Donnelly Jr. steals his college fund and leaves home in search of stardom, he is drawn into a world of music, ambition and illusion under the influence of nightclub owner Bobby Collier and the club’s headline star, Henrietta Harmon. As Shawn reinvents himself as performer John Browne, success seems closer than ever. But beneath the glamour lies a darker reality of control, exploitation and personal cost. Caught between the loyalty of those he left behind and the seductive pull of his new life, Shawn finds himself at the centre of a story shaped by love, guilt, loss and fate.

Guided by two mysterious Fates who observe and subtly influence the action, Most Peculiar Dreams unfolds as a theatrical and emotionally charged journey through family conflict, romance, tragedy and redemption. At its heart, it is a musical about the price of chasing a dream and the human consequences of the choices we make.
