Remembering Arty

A Night of Music and Memory

As part of the Irish Cultural Centre’s 30th Anniversary celebrations we are dedicating a number of concert events to some of our artists and long-time friends who are unfortunately no longer with us.

The musical family and friends of the illustrious Irish guitarist, composer and producer Arty McGlynn will get together on Saturday 15th November to celebrate his life and music at ICC with a concert titled “Remembering Arty”.

Arty’s career spanned generations and genres of Irish music from his early Showband days withThe Plattermen to his guitar solo on Enya’s first singleI Want Tomorrow. Other collaborations included studio sessions and tours withPaul Brady, Van Morrison, Makem & Clancy, Frances Black, Maura O’Connell, Christy Moore, Christie Hennessy, Four Men & A Dog, The Chieftainsand an exhaustive list of Irish artists.

The celebration concert will be made up of an A-list of world-class musicians who have shared both stage and studio sessions with ArtyArty’s wife, renowned fiddle player, composer, and vocalist Nollaig Casey, and his guitarist son Jerome McGlynn, will be joined by Belfast composer and cellist Neil MartinKevin Doherty Gino Lupari from Four Men & A DogNicky Scott (Van Morrison, Mary Black, Gilbert O’Sullivan), Liam Bradley (Ronan Keating, Boyzone, Paul Brady, Moving Hearts), Eamon McElholm (Solas, Finbarr Furey, Cara Dillon), Rod McVey (The Corrs, Maura O’Connell, Dolores Keane), and Country Music veteran Brendan Quinn, friend and Kickin Mule collaborator – all will share their music, stories and craic remembering Omagh’s favourite son.

ICC patron and star of stage and screen, Fermanagh’s Adrian Dunbar, will host the evening – and who knows, with the unique opportunity of frontingArty’s finest, he may well be tempted to break into song.
