Here is a film clip from the ICC’s most recent episode of its fabulous monthly Irish Arts Radio Show “Bright Side Of the Road”. As this year is the Centenary of The Irish Civil War, we invited Dr. Michelle Paull, a Senior Lecturer in Drama (at St Mary’s University) and an expert on Sean O’Casey to come into the studio to talk about Sean O’Casey, and his dramatic portrayals of the Irish Civil War!
Watch this fascinating film, in which Michelle talks to Portobello Radio’s Producer Piers Thompson and the acclaimed Dublin Film Director Sé Merry Doyle about O’Casey!! And you can also see a phenomenal live reading from O’Casey’s great play “The Shadow Of a Gunman”, read by the legendary Irish actor Tony Rohr!
This Episode (9) of “Bright Side of the Road” also shines a spotlight on the music and talents of Paul McCartney and Kate Bush and explores their Irish roots! Dr. Richard Mills, an expert on “The Beatles” also comes into the studio to talk about Paul McCartney! And as if that’s not enough the ICC’s talented resident singer, Ruby Kearney, sings a mesmerising rendition of Kate Bush’s song ‘Army Dreamers’ accompanied by Jimmy Chambers, on vocals and guitar!
Plus there are also tracks from the featured artist of the month, the great Jazz-Blues Singer Mary Coughlan, who performed live at the ICC, just a few weeks ago, with her five piece band!
“Bright Side Of The Road” is presented by Piers Thompson with regular guests, the filmmaker Sé Merry Doyle and the ICC’s Cultural Director Rosalind Scanlon. The show is Produced by Sé Merry Doyle and Piers Thompson and Engineered by Greg Weir and Fumata Sannoh (Fei).
