Concert – Peter Coughlan

30th October 2020, 12am

This week’s concert in our series “The ICC Seisiúns” stars the much loved Irish folk singer Peter Coughlan, in performance and in conversation.

Born in County Offaly, Coughlan moved to London in his late teens and became a much admired figure on the Irish folk, rock and trad circuits.

Frontman for the brilliant Irish trad-rock band “Hungry Grass”, who many of you will have seen perform live at the ICC lots of times over the years. Coughlan is also a superb solo artist.

Possessing a remarkable and powerful voice, he is often compared to many of Ireland’s great ballad singers, including the late great Luke Kelly from The Dubliners.

In 2014 Peter sang unaccompanied and unplugged at The Royal Albert Hall for the state visit of Irish President, Michael D Higgins and received a standing ovation.

Currently, Peter is working towards producing a new solo album, to be released early next year.

In this 35-minute film, you will see why Peter is acclaimed as an astounding singer, gifted with a voice that truly raises the rafters. Enjoy and please share!
