We are pleased to present the latest concert in our series “The ICC Seisiúns” featuring the wonderful singer songwriter and guitarist Sinéad Egan in performance and in conversation. London born Sinéad was brought up steeped in Irish traditional music and was strongly influenced and guided by her stepfather, the late great Irish fiddle master Brendan Mulkere.
Always honouring and paying homage to her Irish traditional roots, at an early age Sinéad began to write and sing her own Folk and Country songs, often seamlessly mixing them with touches of Jazz and Blues. Her beautiful, pure and lyrical voice is spellbinding and her songs are full of transcendent melodies, which inspire and touch the soul.
In this delightful concert Sinéad also sings a song in memory of the great Country singer songwriter John Prine. Enjoy!
About Sinéad Egan:
Since the age of 16, singer songwriter, guitarist and keyboard player Sinéad Egan has been accompanying many of Ireland’s greatest traditional musicians, including the legendary fiddler Tommy Peoples, Ireland’s great singers Dolores Keane, Frances Black and Eleanor McEvoy.
In 2019 she performed on the main stage at the ‘St Patrick’s Day Festival’ in Trafalgar Square, as part of a tribute to the late Dolores O’Riordan of the Cranberries.
Sinéad has worked with grammy award-winning songwriter and country music artist Beth Nielsen Chapman and also country singer Mary Chapin-Carpenter. She’s accompanied and supported many of Ireland’s renowned singer songwriters, including Declan Sinnott, Damien Dempsey, Kate Nash, Mary Coughlan and she also supported The Furey Brothers.
Sinéad was recently in the recording studio working on material with Boy George; she recorded with both him and George Clinton, on a new album (“Parliament, Funkadelic”) featuring Sinéad O’Connor.
Sinéad often plays live in concert with her sister the great Irish Trad and Classical fiddle player Claire Egan, with whom she is currently working on a new album, ‘The Egan Sisters’ to be released any day soon; Many of you will have often seen Sinéad and Claire play live in concert at the ICC over the years, along with their step-father, the acclaimed late, great Irish fiddler, Brendan Mulkere, who died in September 2020.
