Concert – Tad Sargent, Michael Sweeney and Mick O Connor

18th September 2020, 12am

Today, ICC Digital is delighted to launch our series “The ICC Seisiúns,” 14 Irish unplugged concerts, recently recorded at the ICC and starring many of London’s great Irish musicians and artists.

Kicking off the series will be three exceptional musicians who all of you who come to our free and fabulous Friday night Irish music sessions will know and love so well!  Yes it’s the three great stalwarts of our Friday night session, the amazing guitarist and bodhran player Tad Sargent, the brilliant fiddle player Michael Sweeney and the legendary, acclaimed banjo player Mick O’ Connor.

Filmed by Director Sé Merry Doyle, you will see them here in conversation and in performance. If you play an instrument at our weekly session, Tad, Mick and Michael encourage you to pick it up and play along. This promises to be a heart warming, uplifting experience, so enjoy!

The purpose of this production is to shine a spotlight on London’s Irish musicians, who over the past 25 years have played at the ICC and have helped to make it ‘The Home of Irish Culture’. Since the outbreak of Covid-19, we have been profoundly mindful that so many of our local musicians have lost their livelihoods – and so as a way of reaching out to them, thanks to The Embassy of Ireland, GB and Ireland’s Department for Foreign Affairs, we were able to invite them to participate in this production.

ICC Digital will screen each performance from the series of the 14 concerts on consecutive Fridays from September 11th.
