Peadar Ó Riada – ‘Emigration’

1st December 2021, 12am

As part of our special Tribute to Ireland’s great Composer, Seán Ó Riada, to mark the 50th Anniversary of his death, ICC Digital is so delighted to bring you this deeply heart-touching greeting from his son, the acclaimed pianist and composer Peadar O’Riada.

Peadar was asked by his friend, Film Director, Sé Merry Doyle, to send viewers of ICC Digital a  special message to mark the anniversary of his Father’s death, but being the generous and kind spirit that he is, Peadar went much further and specially composed a beautiful new piece of music, which he has dedicated to all of the Irish Immigrants who came to England in the 1950’s, 1960’s and the decades beyond…

Entitled ‘Emigration’, you can watch Peadar playing this here; it’s simply awe-inspiring and we promise it will bring a tear to your eye.

We would sincerely like to thank Paddy for taking the time to do this for the ICC.

As part of our Tribute to Seán Ó Riada, we will be presenting two special events in our venue;

Sunday Dec 5th 2pm, A rare screening of the classic Film “MISE EIRE” on The ICC’s Big Screen.

Sunday Dec 5th at 7.30pm; A Concert Celebrating the Music of Sean O’Riada; featuring four of London’s finest Irish trad musicians – Master Piper Brendan McAuley, Singer, Flautist Mick Sands, Guitarist Kevin Boyle & Fiddler Clare O’Leary.
