1st January 1970, 12am

To celebrate Black History Month 2021, ICC Digital is delighted to bring you this short film of the awesome singer songwriter and musician, Jeanette Murphy, who stems from Nigerian-Irish heritage.

Possessing a hauntingly beautiful voice, Jeanette has a wealth of experience as a live performer’; she is known for effortlessly combining her intricate acoustic guitar playing, with her stunning vocals and thought-provoking lyrics, in her very own unique style.

Having an eclectic taste in music, Jeanette performs jazz, folk, blues and Irish and she regularly plays and sings at Irish traditional music sessions across London – including the Friday night Irish music session here in Hammersmith, at the ICC.  Jeanette says she loves the ambience of the Irish trad session and she also loves traveling to Ireland to play at the annual Fleadh Cheoil Festivals, whenever she can.

In this short film, which is directed by Sé Merry Doyle, Jeanette performs three songs and talks to Sé about her song writing, her music, and her heritage.
