Today we bring you an uplifting poetry reading from the award-winning London Irish Poet John O’Donoghue. A good friend of the ICC, John’s rich and powerful tapestry of poems clearly stems from his experience of being part of the Irish diaspora. As you will hear, John has a distinct London-Irish voice and his writings reflect how his sense of his Irishness was deeply shaped by both London and County Monaghan.

John O’Donoghue is the author of Sectioned: A Life Interrupted (John Murray, 2009); Brunch Poems (Waterloo Press, 2009); Fools & Mad (Waterloo Press, 2014); and The King From Over The Water (The Wild Geese Press, 2019). He is one of the co-founders of ‘The Wild Geese’ and he has a PhD in Critical Creative Writing from Bath Spa University.
