Saint Patricks Week Session – Jacquelyn Hynes

18th March 2021, 12am

As part of our ‘Special Saint Patrick’s Week Short Film Series’, made by the ICC’s wonderful in-house artists and tutors, today we bring you a short film featuring the ICC’s gifted flute and tin whistle tutor, Jacquelyn Hynes.

Besides being a great Irish traditional musician, Jacquelyn also performs Celtic-Fusion and World music and she has also frequently appeared in the ICC’s annual production, ‘Celtic Caribbean Crossings’ which was established at the Centre in 1999.

So today we bring you a touch of multicultural Celtic fusion, to add spice to your Saint Patrick’s Week. We take you back to a magical and magnificent night of fusion music, which we recall so well –  ‘The ICC’s Celtic Caribbean Crossings in 2018’.

Here Jacquelyn appears with her band ‘Avalonia’, which features Irish singer songwriter J Eoin, percussionist Zinga Rabhi, and guitarist Edward Lappage. Fusing tones alongside them is the amazing Guyana musician, Keith Waithe and his brilliant band The Marcusi Players. Enjoy!

Jacquelyn Hynes has a Masters Degree in Irish Traditional Music from the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick. She teaches Irish Flute and Tin Whistle to adults and children at the ICC every Saturday and during the pandemic, Jacquelyn’s weekly classes have continued to be offered on-line around the globe.  If you would like to find out more about the ICC’s Irish flute and tin whistle classes, here is the link for more information
