Tune in to Near FM Dublin 90.3 on Wednesday March 10th, 11.30pm for  another great episode of ‘Bright Side Of The Road’, recorded at the Irish Cultural Centre in Hammersmith, London.

This week’s show focuses on Irish ballad singers and showcases London’s great Irish balladeer Peter Coughlan, who recently appeared in the ICC’s film series The ICC Seisiúns.

Born in County Offaly, Peter Coughlan moved to London in his late teens and became a much admired figure on the Irish folk, rock and trad circuits. Frontman for the brilliant Irish trad-rock band, ‘Hungry Grass’, Coughlan possesses a remarkable voice and is often compared to the late great Luke Kelly from The Dubliners.

Henry Scott Irvine presents the weekly Irish music and arts show, with special guests, the ICC’s Cultural Director, Rosalind Scanlon and Film-maker Sé Merry Doyle, who directed the series of 14 lockdown concerts, “The ICC Seisiúns”.

This week’s show includes classic tracks from Thin Lizzy, Liam Weldon, Frank Harte, Dolores Keane and Christy Moore.
