About the Irish Cultural Centre

The Irish Cultural Centre (ICC) in Hammersmith, London, opened its doors in 1995 and is the UK’s leading centre dedicated to the promotion and celebration of Irish arts and culture abroad. We welcome people of all backgrounds to engage with our three core pillars: Culture, Community, and Education.

Our purpose-built venue features a performance auditorium, modern bar and lounge, art gallery, Irish heritage library, and versatile meeting spaces, providing a professional and welcoming setting for a wide range of cultural events and educational programmes. The ICC presents concerts, theatre, film screenings, literary events, and visual arts exhibitions, showcasing nationally and internationally acclaimed artists, writers, and performers.

Over the years, notable guests have included Van Morrison, Colm Tóibín, Dara Ó Briain, Mary Black, Sharon Shannon, Edna O’Brien, Ed Byrne, Ardal O'Hanlon and HRH King Charles, among many others.

Education, culture, and community are central to the ICC’s mission. Our educational offering includes Irish language courses at all levels in partnership with the University of Liverpool, alongside music tuition and Irish dancing classes, supporting both learners and practitioners.

Learning and research are further supported by Leabharlann ICC – The David Whiteley Library, London’s premier Irish heritage library. Home to thousands of fiction and non-fiction texts in both English and Irish (as Gaeilge), including rare and specialist works, the library serves students, researchers, genealogists, and anyone seeking a deeper connection with Ireland’s cultural, literary, and historical heritage.

Throughout the year, the ICC presents a rich and diverse programme of arts, music, and cultural events, spanning music, theatre, comedy, literature, film, exhibitions, storytelling, family events, and seasonal festivals such as Bloomsday, Bealtaine, St Brigid’s Day, and St Patrick’s Day. This dynamic programme brings together established and emerging voices from Ireland and the Irish diaspora, creating a vibrant space for creativity, dialogue, and shared experience.

As a registered charity since 2013, the ICC is committed to inclusion, equality, and community engagement. We provide a welcoming environment for people of all ages and backgrounds, fostering appreciation, participation, and lifelong learning in Irish arts and heritage.
