A Rehearsed Reading of ‘The Devil’s In The Chair’

An explosive and funny new play about family, masculinity and Northern Irish identity from award-winning writer, Eoin McAndrew.

Rural Donegal. A family holiday.

Jamie was recently hit by a car, and is self-medicating on pills and alcohol.

Darragh is rebuilding his life again, and thinks it’ll work this time.

Saoirse’s sons have become grown men that she doesn’t even like.

Liam would just like everyone to be a little bit nicer to each other.

As events force them to a blistering confrontation, some things need saying – and others really, really don’t.

This will be a rehearsed reading. It’ll be followed by a discussion, with refreshments, for those who want to stay – we want to hear your feedback! All tickets are free, but we ask you to prebook so we have an idea of numbers.

Contains very strong language, and references to violence, homophobia, and ableism.

Running time: 120 mins.

This reading will be BSL interpreted.

Funded by Arts Council England.
