Irish Heritage October Concert
A Classical Music Concert with ‘Celtic Calling’ + support acts
We have an absolute delight of hosting Irish Heritage‘s October concert at 7.30pm on the 20th October, alongside ‘Celtic Calling’.
Irish Heritage is a registered charity, established in London in 1974, whose objective is to advance public education and appreciation of the arts, particularly those of Irish and Anglo-Irish music, arts, literature and drama of all genres and traditions to the benefit of the community.
‘Celtic Calling’ are a group of Irish, classically trained singers and musicians who have brought together their passion for Irish and Celtic music. As well as playing as a group they are all also very successful solo players. They perform right across their native Ireland and have also performed internationally, producing an engaging and diverse repertoire that includes original Celtic inspired compositions with new arrangements of existing Celtic music. Victoria Johnston, from Dublin, has been at No.1 in the iTunes charts and is an Irish singer-songwriter, award-winning composer and the founding member of Celtic Calling. She holds a BMus in Composition from TUD’s Conservatoire and has an MPhil from Trinity College Dublin. She is accompanied by Chris Comhaill, a guitarist, composer and arranger, trained in classical, jazz and contemporary music. He studied at UCD, BIMM and DCU and holds a master’s degree, as well as a diploma (achieved with distinction) in Guitar Performance. They are joined by Rachel Nic Thomás who is a soprano, also from Dublin, who has completed her BMus from Trinity College and a masters in Vocal Performance from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama along with Laura O’Keeffe, similarly a soprano, hailing from Killarney, Co. Kerry. Laura completed her BMus (Hons.) degree at the MTU Cork school of Music, specialising in performance before receiving a place on the MMus Vocal Performance Masters, also at The Royal Welsh College in Cardiff.
We very much look forward to seeing the group perform. The programme will be interspersed with some of Irish Heritage‘s very talented bursary participants.
This will be the first evening concert held by Irish Heritage at the ICC, so we look forward to joining together for a magical evening of music in our state-of-the-art concert hall. There will be a wine reception during the interval, with access to our bar.
