The McGoldrick Family Band is a captivating musical ensemble that showcases the immense talent and rich heritage of The McGoldrick Family. Led by Michael on the Uilleann Pipes/Flute, the band also features his nieces, Catherine on Wooden Flute, Ciara on Concertina/Vocals and Mairead on Whistle/Bodhran.

The music played by the Family has been lovingly passed down through generations, Michael’s father Brendan is a skilled Tin Whistle player from Co. Galway and his mother Teresa, an ardent ballad singer from Co. Mayo. This deep connection to their roots is evident in the soulful and authentic performances delivered by the band. With this new album, The McGoldrick Family invites listeners on a musical journey that bridges the gap between the past and the present. Their innovative approach to traditional music breathes new life into age-old tunes, ensuring that the legacy of their ancestors continues to thrive and resonate with audiences around the world. Their music is a testament to the enduring power of family, tradition, and the universal language of music.

The girls are accomplished musicians in their own right, sharing an extensive resume of achievements and awards. Sisters, Catherine and Ciara, have developed their skills studying Traditional Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, exploring the thriving traditional music scene in Glasgow and their dedication and commitment to their craft shines through in every note they play. Mairead, brings her own exceptional talent as All-Ireland whistle champion and 3rd place bodhrán medalist to the mix. Her rhythmic prowess provides the backbone of the band’s infectious grooves.

In addition to their instrumental prowess, The McGoldrick Family also showcase their vocal talents on this album. Following in her Grandmother’s footsteps, Ciara’s heartfelt and emotive singing brings an added layer of depth and authenticity to the songs, further immersing listeners in the rich storytelling tradition of Irish music.

The McGoldrick Family are thrilled to announce the release of their highly anticipated debut album, featuring a captivating blend of traditional and contemporary tunes and songs. Whether performing lively jigs and reels or heartfelt ballads, the family captivates audiences with their virtuosity, passion, and undeniable chemistry on stage. Together, they create a collection that is both deeply rooted in tradition and infused with contemporary flair. Their seamless blend of instruments and heartfelt performances, transport audiences to Ireland, Scotland and Brittany evoking a sense of nostalgia and celebration. From foot-stomping jigs and reels to hauntingly beautiful ballads, each track on the album is a testament to the family’s passion for their craft and their dedication to pushing the boundaries of traditional music.

They are joined by Jimmy Patrick, who originates from Barrow-in-Furness. Jimmy’s musical journey includes formal education in music at Newcastle University, which, combined with his global travels and residencies, has enabled him to assimilate a range of international guitar techniques, subsequently infusing his playing with a distinctive flair. His performances have graced stages across the UK, Ireland, Europe, Scandinavia, and Asia.
