Poet Naomi Foyle Reads Niall McDevitt (Bloomsday Festival, 2023)

In memory of the late Poet Niall McDevitt (former ‘Poet In Residence’ here at the ICC), and to mark the first anniversary of his sad passing, (died 29 September 2022), we bring you this powerful short film. Earlier this year in June, the ICC and Sé Merry Doyle brought five poets over from London to Dublin to “The Bloomsday Film Festival”, to launch Niall’s latest book of Poetry “LONDON NATION”. One of the Poets who performed at Niall’s Book Launch in Dublin was the eminent, award-winning Poet Naomi Foyle. In this film you will see Naomi reading one of her own poems along with Niall’s haunting , breath-taking poem, his tribute to the people of Grenfell, “The Tower Of Babylon”. The Poet Naomi Foyle is one of Britain’s most notable Poets and a long-time friend of Niall McDevitt; She has published three collections of poetry, including ‘The Night Pavilion’, and ‘Adamantine’. Her novels. include, ‘cyberchiller Seoul Survivors’ (2013), ‘Astra’ (2014), ‘Rook Song’ (2015) ‘The Blood of the Hoopoe’ (2016) and ‘Stained Light’, which together comprise The Gaia Chronicles. Naomi is the Director of Waterloo Press. Niall McDevitt previous publications include ‘b/w’ Waterloo Press (2010); ‘Porterloo’, International Times (2013) and “Firing Slits: Jerusalem Colportage” (2016). Niall’s work is also featured in the unique anthology “Urban Shamanism: A London Poetopographical’ with three other poets Aidan Andrew Dun, David Amery, and John Constable.
